IET donates cakes to local sheltered housing scheme

21 August 2008

Let them eat cake!

Residents at a sheltered housing scheme in Stevenage, Herts, enjoyed an extra special afternoon tea recently (8 August) when they were joined by employees from the town’s Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Two employees from the IET, which is the world’s leading membership organisation for engineers, hand delivered cakes to residents at the Silkin Court sheltered housing scheme based in Cotney Croft.

Ross Dalton, Communications Officer at the IET, said: “Following the successful launch of a new IT system at the IET, we held a staff get together to celebrate months of hard work. We had a number of cakes made and two were left over. The IET is a registered charity and we like to do our bit for the local community, so we didn’t want the cakes to go to waste. It was very nice to spend time there and see the cakes being enjoyed.”
