Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes

The benefits accreditation can bring to your educational programmes and how programmes are accredited.

Why accredit your programmes?

In an internationally competitive market students and industry are demanding more, an accredited programme assists you to:

  • attract the best students
  • provide students with a good foundation for professional registration
  • meet the needs of industry
  • benchmark your programmes against other institutions in the UK and internationally

Accredited programmes assist individuals by demonstrating that they meet some or all of the underpinning knowledge and understanding requirements for registration as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer. This is achieved through the assessment of programmes against defined and accepted standard criteria.

To determine if a programme is accredited you will need to ensure that you have the correct title, designation and the year the cohort enrolled into year 1 of the programme.

Below are lists of currently accredited/approved programmes by the IET, which are available to download.

  • The list of currently accredited UK programmes for Chartered Engineer and Incorporated Engineer status
