IET Mentoring Service
The IET mentoring service operates on a ‘by members for members’ basis providing members with the opportunity to be linked with a mentor or to become a mentor.
The mentoring service helps IET members to find a trained mentor outside the immediate workplace to help identify professional development opportunities and encourage their pursuit.
The IET matches mentors and mentees using geographical location as the main criterion. No attempt to take technical specialism into account is made since mentoring is not considered to be profession specific.
The mentoring service has been awarded Approved Provider Status by the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation (MBF), a national benchmark for organisations providing one-to-one volunteer mentoring or befriending.
The Mentoring and Befriending Foundation is the national body for mentoring and befriending with funding from the government.
The MBF promotes the development of mentoring, offers advice and support to those wishing to set up or develop mentoring programmes and is a forum for the exchange of information and good practice.
