About the course
Systems modelling language (SysML) is the first formal profile of UML aimed specifically at systems engineering professionals. UML has been used by systems engineers for many years, but SysML provides a set of extension mechanisms that allow some system-related constructs, such as real-world physical constraints and physical flows and connections to be more-formally represented. SysML has been in development for many years now and has only recently been fully agreed and specified. This long agreement process has seen SysML evolve over several major iterations, including two separate proposals from different teams. As a consequence of this long and often confusing evolution, there are many misconceptions associated with SysML such as its status as a profile, its autonomy as a language and just how it can be best applied for systems engineering.
Key benefits
- Gain knowledge of the key concepts of static and behavioural modelling;
- Obtain an understanding of each of the nine SysML diagrams and three cross-cutting notations, along with some examples of how they may be used in real-life situations;
- Covers an introduction to the background of SysML and its relation to UML.
