Welcome to the IET New England Network
The New England Network provides IET members from the New England states, as well as the states of New York and New Jersey, with meaningful services at the local level. You are encouraged to contact the IET directly in all other matters.
History of the New England Network
Following some informal meetings of interested members, our Petition to form the "IEE New England Centre" was filed with the President and the Council on 13 August 1997. The Petition was approved by the Board of Trustees and by Council in January 1998. Shortly after that we were renamed as the New England Branch.
In 2005 when the IEE and IIE merged, we became the IET New England Network with responsibility to provide local services to all members of the new Institution.
Committee elections
The New England Network is seeking nominations for the 2009 Committee. Elections will be held in July, 2008.
Events
Attending local events can lead to valuable networking opportunities. The New England Network regularly runs events in the greater Boston region and in New York City. Members are encouraged to bring guests.
Special seminar rates
In addition to the technical events hosted by the IET, meetings, conferences, and seminars provided by the IET's sister Society, the IEEE, are available to IET members at the IEEE member rates. Check with your local IEEE Section or with Charles Rubenstein for additional information and local contacts within IEEE's Region 1.
Where we live
The New England Network serves IET members from the New England states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont as well as the states of New York and New Jersey (approximately 770 miles from end to end).
Contacts
You are encouraged to contact the New England Network committee about meeting arrangements, membership upgrades or any matters of a local nature.
Committee
The New England Network Executive Committee encourages any member interested in helping to run the local network to contact them with a view to election as one of the honorary officers or as a member.
Recent events
Our most recent meetings have been held in either the greater Boston region or in New York City so as to accommodate our members, the majority of which live within commuting distance of one of these two centres.
Working in the USA
If you are considering work in the USA, or have recently come to the USA, there are important legal, financial and personal considerations.
