Q: Why has my membership fee increased for 2008?
A: Your IET membership fee has increased for 2008 to reflect the increased cost in providing members' products and services.
In addition, from 1997 to 2001, the qualified and registered members' fee was set as follows:
2001 £19.50
2000 £19.00
1999 £18.00
1998 £18.00
1997 £17.00
Between 2002 and 2007, the CEng and IEng levy has remained unchanged at £20.00. Assuming a rate of inflation at 4% for the period it remained unchanged, the levy for 2008 will be set at £25.00.
For EngTech, last year, the levy was set at a nominal £5.00. For 2008, the levy for EngTech will be increased from the nominal £5.00 to £10.00.
These increases have been incorporated into the membership subscription rate for qualified and registered members. Qualified members are Fellows and Chartered Electrical Engineers; Registered Members are those who hold CEng, IEng or EngTech registration with EC(UK).
