Robin McCormick is currently the Transmission System Operator (TSO) in Northern Ireland. Heading up SONI Ltd, a subsidiary of Northern Ireland Electricity, he is responsible for both the safe, secure and economic operation of the grid system and for developing the electricity market arrangements in NI.
One of his key responsibilities at present is to work in partnership with the two electricity regulators on the island of Ireland and the TSO in RoI to establish new all-island wholesale market arrangements. This is an ambitious project with a tight timeframe of July 2007 to meet.
Robin has also held a number of management positions within NIE including Business Strategy, Transmission Planning & Projects and Customer Service. He has participated in IET events, was a member of the P9 Power Committee and has worked on the organising committee for an IET Transmission & HVDC conference.
Leisure time is treasured and filled with regular visits to the gym and decreasingly to a golf course!
