How do I obtain a copy of the full text of the article I have found on Inspec?
Full text documents
Many journals and conference articles are now available in electronic format. To access these documents, Inspec includes DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) which are full-text links that lead you directly to the relevant article on the publisher's website. If you already subscribe to the journal, you will gain immediate access to the article, otherwise you may purchase the article for a small fee. Over 70% of current journal articles indexed by Inspec have full text links. Inspec now contains over 2 million links across the whole database and will add more links when they become available both to the current and back years.
Print articles
If an article does not have a weblink, how do I obtain a copy?
If your organisation does not have a library service, there are many library and document delivery services that can obtain copies of articles that are not available via the web. The following offer document retrieval services.
IET Library
The IET's own library at Savoy Place, London, houses more than 3000 periodical titles and 65,000 books specialising in the fields of electrical, electronic, control and manufacturing engineering, telecommunications, computing and information technology.
Copies of articles and papers can be provided via the photocopying service, or for some, by electronic delivery.
British Library
The British Library offers copyright compliant access to over 250,000 journal titles, 50 million patents and 400,000 conference proceedings in addition to many books and theses.
Documents can be sent either by secure electronic delivery or in print, with three delivery speed options available.
Infotrieve
Infotrieve obtains copies of journal articles, technical reports, books, standards, patents, dissertations, conference papers and obscure or specialised publications from a wide range of internal and external sources. All copyright royalties are automatically paid either directly to the publisher or to the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC).
Requests for articles may be made online, by fax or by email. The requested material can then be delivered by the method of your choice: email, fax, Ariel®, courier, mail (either regular or express).
Infotrieve offers three levels of service depending on the time available: regular, rush or panic.
