Academic Insight Talks
This highly successful event saw the editors-in-chief of five of The IET’s leading research journals speak on the themes of intelligent transport, renewable power, nanobiotechnology, systems biology and synthetic biology. The talks were enjoyed by a mixture of attendees from academia and industry and you can watch them now on IET.tv - simply follow the link on the right-hand side of this page.

Electronics Letters and Insight Letters
Now, inside Electronics Letters are Insight Letters. These are intended to provide authors with a platform to communicate to an expert readership, visionary and speculative ideas in new and emerging areas within the cross-disciplinary fields of science and technology. Each Insight Letter will provide an expert’s perspective and forecast of where the current technology is leading and what the challenges facing the future generation of engineers might be.
The latest Insight Letters are available free online. You can also watch the authors behind the Insight Letters speaking about their latest research through freely accessible webcast interviews on IET.tv.
Renewable Power Generation and Synthetic Biology
Two of our more recent journal titles are Renewable Power Generation and Synthetic Biology. Renewable Power Generation brings together the topics of renewable energy technology, power generation and systems integration. Other technologies having a direct role in sustainable power generation such as fuel cells and energy storage will also be covered, as will system control approaches such as demand side management, that facilitate the integration of renewable sources into power systems, both large and small.
Synthetic biology is a new interdisciplinary endeavour which involves the recruitment of engineering principles to biology. IET Synthetic Biology will publish conventional research papers in synthetic biology and will also provide a “nuts and bolts” view of this new field, as well as presenting review and educational materials. In particular, it is the intention of the journal to support the activities of young workers entering the synthetic biology field.
Micro & Nano Letters
Micro & Nano Letters is another new journal from the IET, specialising in the express publication of short research papers concentrating on the latest advances in the science, engineering, technology and applications of miniature and ultraminiature structures and systems that have at least one dimension ranging from a few tens of micrometres to a few nanometres.
Micro & Nano Letters offers a rapid route for international dissemination of high-quality research findings generated by researchers from both the micro and nano communities.
